We have prepared a list with the most frequent questions for your convenience.
How do we get to Samaya?
We are just a 5-minute boat ride away. Let us know your estimated arrival time in advance, and our host will arrange your pick-up. Once you’re at the dock and ready to go, give us a quick call – we’ll be there shortly.
Arrival by Bus:
Most buses arrive on Flores Island. We can meet you at the dock near Maracuyá Restaurant.
If you’d like to shop first, head to Maya Mall, and we’ll pick you up by boat in front of La Torre supermarket.
Arrival by Plane:
From the airport, take a tuk-tuk or shared shuttle to Flores Island — we’ll meet you at the dock of Maracuyá Restaurant.
Prefer to shop first? Ask your driver to stop at Maya Mall. We can meet you at the lake in front of La Torre supermarket and load your groceries straight into the boat.
Arrival by Car:
Park at Maya Mall by the lake. It’s much easier than finding a parking spot on Flores Island.
We’ll meet you in front of La Torre supermarket, perfect if you’re bringing groceries.
What is the check-in procedure?
After your boat ride, a staff member will escort you to your apartment and provide you with the code to your keyless entry — no keys needed.
What are your check-in and check-out times?
Check-in: from 3:00 PM
Check-out: by 11:00 AM
Early check-in or late check-out may be possible only with prior approval.
Will we be able to cross to Flores easily?
Yes. Samaya is just a peaceful 5–7 minute boat ride from Flores Island.
Upon arrival, you will be added to a WhatsApp group to check scheduled crossings or request a ride. Our team is happy to take you across, and you’ll also get direct contact information for our boat captains if you need a ride at a specific time.
What are your quiet hours?
For everyone’s comfort, quiet hours are from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM. During quiet hours we ask that all electronic devices used for games, music, or movies be used with headphones, and conversations be held at a low volume. Some guests might be scheduled go to Tikal for the sunrise tour, so let's work together to make sure everyone get's good rest!
We also ask you to be mindful around the yoga deck during morning sessions.
Is Samaya a party place?
No. Samaya is dedicated to wellness, nature, yoga, and relaxation. If you’re looking for a party scene, this won’t be the right fit.
We kindly ask guests to respect our peaceful atmosphere:
- No parties
- No outside visitors
- No heavy drinking
- No loud speakers (headphones please!)
Where can I buy my Tikal tour or other tickets?
Tikal tours and other tickets are available at many travel agencies on Flores Island. We recommend booking at least one day in advance to avoid extra boat trips.

Can I still cross if my tour or transport leaves early?
Yes. Early boat transport is available — just let us know at least one day in advance so we can arrange it for you.
Until what time can we be picked up from Flores?
We offer pick-ups from Flores until 11:30 PM.
If you return late, please be mindful of our quiet hours after 9:00 PM to help maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
Can I get food at Samaya?
Breakfast:
Our cook prepares delicious breakfasts served on your private balcony overlooking the jungle.
Enjoy an authentic Guatemalan “Tipico” breakfast — a warm and genuine way to start your day in nature.
Please order one day in advance. Breakfasts must be paid in cash.
Lunch Delivery:
Available Tuesday to Sunday.
- Plate of the Day: Q30 per person (choice of chicken, beef, or pork with salad, rice, and tortillas).
- Delivery fee: Q10.
- Orders start at 11:45 AM.
Meals are delivered directly to your apartment. Payment in cash only. Please note this is an external service; Samaya is not responsible for any issues.
What is included in my stay?
- Boat transport between Samaya and Flores
- Access to our Temazcal sauna starting around 5:30 PM
- Use of our paddle boards and kayaks
- Private beach access
- Walking trails through the jungle reserve
- Participation in our 8:00 AM yoga class (subject to space, reservation in advance required)

What does it mean to stay in the jungle?
Samaya is nestled in a natural jungle sanctuary, just minutes from Flores. Expect lush greenery and abundant wildlife, including howler and spider monkeys, colorful parrots, and other tropical creatures.
While some critters like frogs, spiders, and even scorpions may appear, none are dangerous. Rare but important: two venomous snakes — the Yellow-beard and Coral snakes — live here but are extremely shy and avoid humans.
Safety Tips:
- Always carry a flashlight when walking outside at night
- Stick to marked paths
- Keep doors (glass or screened) closed to keep unwanted visitors out
With care and common sense, you can fully enjoy the vibrant biodiversity that makes Samaya unique.

Yes. Each apartment has a double filtration system:
- Reverse osmosis (5 filters)
- Ecofiltro ceramic filter
This ensures safe, clean, and great-tasting drinking water in your kitchen.
